Summer activity, contact with nature, coexistence, companionship, education, personal growth, most important activity of the year, working the values, no-consumerism, solidarity, cooperation, etc. These are the words which describe the esplais’ summer activities. You will find more information about them below.

In the Resources section you will find a file dedicated to the campaign Els esplais fem l'estiu (The esplais do the summer) with all the documents and necessary resources to plan and develop your summer activities. These are the contents we offer you:

- Necessary information to organize an international activity.

- Documents to fill in when coming back from a summer activity.

Camps in country houses (colònies)

They normally take place in summer or Easter and last from 3-4 days to 10-15 days at the most. It is an intense coexistence experience, as participants and organizers live together uninterruptedly 24/7 in a country house.

Camps in tents

They preferably take place in summer, when the weather is nicer to do activities in the nature, and last from 3 to 15 days. The country house is in this case replaced with tents, both to sleep and to organize the material or cook.

Trekking routes

This is mainly a summer activity which consists on going trekking for some days.

The duration and distance of the route depends on the participants’ state of fitness. We normally pass through villages where we can buy food and sometimes even sleep over. It is an experience of extreme adventure and distance from our most familiar and daily environment.

Each one carries a rucksack with his/her belongings and the cooking utensils. The group material is shared out among all the participants. It is probably the most intense experience regarding coexistence, contact with nature and leaving behind all unnecessary objects. This activity can be easily combined with colònies and camps.

Day camps in the city (casals)

Educational activity which takes place during the summer holidays in an environment close to the children. It only takes a few hours every day, morning and/or afternoon, and the children take part in different recreational activities such as workshops, games, excursions, visits, etc.

International exchanges

These are projects in which the young participants work on a subject and take part in the three stages of the exchange: preparation, meeting of the groups and evaluation. During the exchange, the groups of young people of the different countries have the chance to share their experiences, observe the similarities and differences of the different cultures and fight the negative stereotypes which lead to prejudices.

Work camps

Educational activity made by a group of young people during the summer holidays on a specific place to develop a specific task: social projects, nature protection, path, building or heritage restoration, etc. The accommodation, either in a house, tent or fitted out premises, is near the work camp. It is a contribution to community life based on volunteering and learning through recreational activities.
