Departments and Commissions |
|

|
In order to improve the educational task of the esplais and of Esplac, commissions were created to work on different issues which go beyond the operational capacity of the decision-making bodies (Assembly, Board, Geographical Sectors, etc.). This way, the issues which require constant monitoring, because of the project’s dimension or the issue in itself, can be tackled on a specific and specialized way. Let’s have a look at the commissions though, to understand this better.

Pedagogical Comission
The aim of Esplac’s Pedagogical Department is to provide the esplais with resources, training and answers to their pedagogical needs.
In order to carry out these tasks, until June 2007, the Pedagogical representatives from the different Geographical Sectors held meetings to deal with different pedagogical projects, activities and actions. The technical support and work of the commissions are very useful too.
One of the tools we have in our hands towards social change is the capacity to create speech and act accordingly and in order to achieve this, we have to create spaces were the interested people can work to reach this goal. Therefore, as not all the Geographical Sectors have participation to develop the projects, Esplac decided to open the space to all the people linked to the organization with an interest to participate.
The Pedagogical Commission was born in 2007 with this spirit: it counts with the Pedagogical representatives of the Geographical Sectors, the Pedagogical representatives of the Governing Board, the representatives of the different working commissions of Esplac and all those people who, freely and voluntarily, have joined the commission as a consequence of their personal motivation towards the pedagogical issues tackled by Esplac.
The main projects on which the Pedagogical Department works nowadays are related to subjects like: citizenship, children’s rights, children’s participation, detection of the esplais’ training needs, youth leaders and organisation leaders training, summer activities, sustainability, projects and reports, etc.
Some of these subjects are tackled by other commissions and by the Board with the support of Esplac’s officers.
You are all invited to participate. If you are interested you can contact us at +34 933 026 103 or by e-mail at

Editorial Board of the Tercer Segona Magazine
The Editorial Board of the Tercer Segona magazine is another participation space of Esplac. It is independent from the Communication Commission, although sometimes they work together.
What do we do at the Editorial Board?
- We decide about the content of the next numbers of the magazine. - We monitor and coordinate the contents as they are prepared. - We write and do the interviews for the magazine. - We revise and evaluate the new numbers.
The writing of the contents of the Tercer Segona is entrusted to the characters of the articles directly, youth leaders, organisation leaders, collaborating partners or members from other organisations who have the same ideology as ours. The Editorial Board only suggests the content and makes the interviews.
For the Tercer Segona to become a good promotion and information tool for the esplais and other readers (we also send copies to libraries, city halls, youth information desks, other organizations, etc.) it is essential that the esplais participate either in the Editorial Board or writing the suggested contents.

It represents Esplac in the international sphere, both in the federations of which Esplac is a member (IFM-SEI and FIEEA) and organizations or institutions from other countries. It is coordinated with the Catalan youth organizations through the International Commission of the National Youth Council of Catalonia. Finally, it encourages and supports the esplais to develop international projects (exchanges, work camps, seminars, etc.). Its members are all those people who belong to Esplac and are interested in the international youth work.

Footprint Reduction Commission
The 21st century is here but our Agenda 21 has still lots of actions to develop, so we have lots of things to improve.
With the intention to get up to date, a group of motivated people, convinced of the fact that the climate change is a reality and not a fantasy, met to create the sustainability commission of Esplac which we called: Footprint Reduction.
We come from different Geographical Sectors and we meet to talk, think and suggest actions to preserve what we do every Saturday with our children and the actions generated by Esplac. And we are getting better! To sum up, we want to have a planet to go on excursion with the children in the future, non-poisoning food and attitudes which respect the environment. This is why we have to Reduce the Footprint!
The commission's objectives are: - To promote the esplais’ and Esplac’s awareness of our ecologic footprint. - To offer resources, advice and training to the esplais regarding environmental issues. - To foster examples of environmental good practices to the esplais and Esplac - To make sure that Esplac is a good example of sustainability as far as its daily functioning is concerned.

Meeting Organitzational Commission
It is constituted on the occasion of General Meetings (this means with the necessary time in advance for everything to be a success). It coordinates all the aspects related with the Meeting and creates the necessary sub-commissions (Infrastructure Commission, Activities Commission, etc.), supported by the rest of bodies of Esplac. Normally, most of the responsibility regarding the Meeting falls on the Geographical Sector and the host esplai, but anyone eager to work can join the commission, there are always people who repeat. It is said that it is very tiring but also gratifying.
